Attention and Kindness
The hermitage of San Roque is our first port of call. It is one of those simple little chapels. Joran feels in some of the details. ‘The Hermitage of San Roque was built during the 17th century. In 1770, the famous sculptor Alejandro Gutierrez de Bustamante was called to appraise the beautiful altarpiece. The Hermitage of San Roque has suffered great deterioration over the years, which is why it had to be practically rebuilt in its entirety in 1903.’
Nearby is the Fountain of Health. It was built in 1876 and still works a lot of the time. 11 months ago it didn’t. 2 months ago it did.
We mentioned, yesterday, the Procession. Apparently this is done because the Virgin only agreed to keep them safe from plague if they did this, Also at the end of the August is a '
historic’ punk rock festival, called Luanna Rock.
On our way out we pass the Church of St. Peter. It was begun in 1891 and a bit French neo-gothic.
We could spend the night at the El Camino del norte holiday flat. https://apartamentoselcaminodelnorte.com/ Eva liked it ‘The apartments are fantastic, clean and spacious. The staff is attentive and very friendly. If we return to this area, we would definitely choose them again. Yes, I would recommend more furniture in the kitchen, to make cooking more comfortable, given that there is little space, but nothing more! Thank you very much for your attention and kindness these days!’
Nieves was a bit one star. You can judge how fair this is
Four of us friends stayed in a ground floor apartment for 4 days in the first week of August. When we arrived everything was apparently correct, but shortly after being there we realized the buts:
-Ground floor apartment with little light and ventilation. (We assume that we were assigned this based on availability, but this point in conjunction with those listed below made our stay in the apartments unsatisfactory)
- The window of our apartment was flush with a meadow with cows, at first glance it may seem very idyllic but the amount of flies there were was unbearable.
- There was only a mosquito net on one of the three windows in the apartment, and it was broken, making it difficult to get in, especially since it was at field level.
- Not being able to open the windows, not being able to ventilate, the temperature inside the apartment was unbearable, when being in the north you sleep even cool (we did not go during a heat wave).
The apartments are aware of the problem with flies, and they gave us a fly swatter, but it is quite unpleasant to be killing flies in the bathroom, in the shower, for them to fall on the beds... They also gave us insect swatters, but we could say that the effect was zero, and when I went back in and opened the windows to ventilate it was filled with flies again.
Finally, the bathroom has no door, it is en suite with the main room and there is no privacy whatsoever, not to mention that if someone gets up at night they have to turn on the light and therefore disturb those who are in the room. room.
In short, we do not recommend this accommodation, nor would we repeat it.
Let us push on.
