A binary of happiness

 A back lane and a bit of fields before we eventually hit the N-611.  It has a wiki page.  This informs me it is 207km long and goes all the way from Santander to Palenica and will go up the Pozazal pass at 987m above sea level.  Whoever wrote the wiki page is clearly a fan of the A-67 in that they, for no good reason, point out it goes to 1,013m.  I was hoping for a list of road lengths.  I am living with the disappointment of not finding one.



We are going to skirt the edge of Maono.  Belleza Macu suns itself on the edge of the community and offers 4.8 star beauty treatment.  It opens weekdays from 9 till 7.   Reviews tend to be short and high.  Carlos said ‘Wonderful professionals. Excellent treatment’.




We are going to end the day in that strip of buildings so common approaching Spain.  We pass a Lupa Supermarket https://lupa.com/  As with many of these institutions it never peaks on review.   Two weeks ago Javier was unhappy.  ‘Very bad experience, today, with an employee who has been in this supermarket for a long time. He charges me three times for the same product, which is strange, but everyone can make mistakes. When I realized it, I returned, and the turns he had to take to be able to refund me the amount I had paid by card. She had to call a colleague twice because she didn't know how to do it. Queue at the checkout with a loss of time for everyone, and on this occasion, I was in a hurry. They have to put more diligent people in positions where a minimum of efficiency is required.’  I struggle to find a written display of happiness - mostly people give 5 stars and depart.   Jose said ‘Quite spacious, with enough parking. We end by the Central de Pinturas.  It has a Mondrian  frontage which is quite fun.  https://centralpinturas.es/  Javier was not happy 6 months ago.   ‘Bad experience in this establishment. Almost €32 for a 4-liter can of white paint seems crazy to me.’  I do wonder why he didn’t go elsewhere.  Luis was happier nine months ago.  ‘In addition to finding the paint that I wanted, they brought it to my car, very kind.’




Tomorrow, we plunge onwards towards Santander.

Mini Pieces of Supposed tuna

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
