Without a defined style

We are climbing over a ridge and ignoring the lure of the Playa Ballota to nip down into the next village and through  Andrin.  This may have been a mistake.  Everyone talks about the beach.






About 150 people live in Andrin.  It has a chapel [15th/16th century dedicated to Our Lady and an 1895 John the Baptist church.   On the way in we will pass the Casa Carle Andrin,  As holiday home’s go, its one 5 star review lacks any detail to be confirmed. 




The Casa Ether only scores 3.8 stars.  Yesterday Florenic gave 3 and said ‘I had coffee and toast and bottled juice for breakfast because it wasn't natural €14 if I remember correctly. Very expensive’   A week ago Ana gave 5 and said ‘A spectacular pot and what can we say about the Lamb, for God's sake, very good. A highly recommended place to regain strength’




The church gets a bit of a sniffy 3.8 stars.  Carlos waxed lyrical with three stars two years ago. ‘Iglesuca without a defined style, but endearing especially on the day of Andrin's party. The traditions are still preserved, the dances, the costumes, and young Asturian women enhance them with serene beauties.’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
