The land of the Excommunicated

Spain is like that.  One moment you are pottering along, with fields and pasture and the next, in the canyon of a town, with height but not depth.  So it is today. We are going into Posada de Llanera,a town of above 3000 souls.  They d have a rebellious history. In the 15th century they were part of the rebellion of the Excommunicated. The nameis now given to a festival in late July where 1000 people sit down to  mediaeval dinner and general nonsense.

Arsenal fans may wish to know that Santiago Cazorla Gonzalez hails from this place.  The gunner’s midfielder sandwiched his career with Villarreal and Malaga. Returned to Villarreal in 2018 and has played for Oviedo since 2023. He has 81 caps for Spain.  While we are on football the local team,UD Llanera, who play in the Asturian tier of the Leagues, play at nearby Estadio Pepe Quimaran.  The reviews are a little skewed however Richard Fox may be onto something. ‘Home team far to ultra one thing  is supporting you team but shouting abuse at the visiting team not far play at all..... lucky we beat them 8 nil. Played the oviedo cup 1/4 finals there  and won through to semi finales in el tensi......’  Andy Macpherson is more generous ‘Nice facilities, well protected from the elements for spectators. Friendly and welcoming bar staff’

Into town and the Plaza de la Habana is the local theatre.  Oscar gave five stars and ‘We came for Adrián Conde's play, the place (theater) is not bad. It's just that the person in charge of placing people in each of the seats is a little stressful. She should have a little more empathy with the audience and everything will flow better. Adrián Conde's work is highly recommended.’  Isabel gave an unusual 2 stars for ‘Air conditioning on full blast,... often cold!!

We will end at the courthouse - the Juzgado de Paz.  .It has two reviews and three stars.  Alas Chema does not say why they gave 2 stars, nor Aroa ‘four.’

We leave town via the AS-373 amd back into the countryside.
