I cannot refer to this site without getting emotional when remembering the crispy skin
We will be rising 143m today, so settle in for a bit of work. We are turning off the As-17 to go down a road which, believe or not, has a designation - the LL-9. Now, I am open to many things but the idea that a road with a number has grass growing in the middle of it is not one I had given much thought to hitherto. This is a day in which you really need to walk the road yourself. It is small. It is twisting. It is tiny. It has some splendid horreos.
Let me make it clear. I want an horrero. The Asturian ones are splendid. They have four very solid pillars. Some have gaps between the steps and the barn to discourage the rats, many are now graced with a solid stairway. The earliest references to them are from the 13th century but they are presumably older. Some are now adapted as summer houses or carports. Asturias has about 30,000 of them.
We will go back to the As-17 and the Asador La Miranda. It opens at 11am and closes at 6pm so no evening treats for us. Alas, the website link does not work. We must rely in Carlos [The roast lamb was very good, it was just right, and very good flavor.] and Maria [Delicious lamb, suckling pig, andarica consommé, everything] who wrote four weeks ago.
I know, you want a bad review. Maria Begona Alvarez Lopez who, eight months ago, was upset. ‘I can't say that the service was good, really, because to eat there you have to make a reservation. If you go without a reservation like we did, you risk leaving without eating like us who left after an hour of waiting and they were going to prepare a table for us in five minutes. I found the service very bad.’
Alright, Some balance to the force. Angel wrote four months ago. ‘I cannot refer to this site without getting emotional when remembering the crispy skin of the suckling pig just before the tooth reaches the succulent meat, always on point. Without a doubt, an experience wrapped in the unmistakable aromas of a high-quality steakhouse... 🙂’
More uphill tomorrow.
