Peak Asturias

I feel today we are doing peak Asturias.  We are going to wander around the flattish bit where a road can go. To the south we have hills and mountains which are strangers to roads. There are villages - but they cling to the river valley which is cutting its way to the sea. To the north of us gently, and not so gently sloping pasture and occasional arable fields which end in cliffs.  The road is hedged by brand new houses and deserted reminders.  The road has been renovated and remodelled.  We will go under a newish motorway.

We skirt the village of Queiruas. It has 200 residence and four beaches - which seems ample.  We are a fortnight early as the big days here are 26th [Santa Ana] and 27th July [Santa Anina].   The local commune is Canero.  I clicked on the wiki link and it took me to Vandeliia cirrhosa - which it tells me is a parasite fish.  These seems to be trolling of a high degree,

In Queirus is the Taller Automocion Fano - a vehicle repair shop of classic design.  Its 8 reviews give it five stars.  David Rathbone declares ‘Extremely helpful when our motorhome developed a heavy vibration. Stopped everything else to help us get on with our trip. 100% recommended.’

Behind it is the Parque infantil y merendero.  Helpfully Luis Lacy y Gautier describes it ‘Children's playground with slide swings and picnic tables under a large oak tree. There is also a court with goals and basketball baskets.’ Three months ago Elena had woeful news.  ‘Quite neglected.’

We will plod on.  Ahead, a service station, but that is for tomorrow.
