Looking down on giant squid

The N-634 has been a major route for many years and we will stop at the El Aparcamiento, one of those great big hotels which put people up on the over long journey across northern Spain.    https://www.elaparcamiento.com/  A single room will set you back 56 euros, a double 70.  The restaurant does an 18 and a 22 euro menu.  The 18 one includes:

First course:

-Peppers stuffed with seafood

-Seafood soup

-Russian salad

-Stew of the day

-Mixed paella

Second course:

-Roasted beef with potatoes

-Roasted chicken with potatoes

-Picadillo with potatoes

-Cachopín with potatoes

-Squid with cider Dessert

Bread, water or wine.

We are turning off the main road and following the cliff top.  Luarca is about 50m below us.  Luarca is one of those Asturian places where the a river meets the sea and enough space has been carved out to make a harbour and cram some houses in.  It only has 3670 people in it but like most Spanish villages that identify as towns, it seems much bigger.  It has a railway, a light house, a squid museum and is the birth place of ALSA - the firm that sends coaches loafing across Spain.

As you would expect there are Palaeolithic hunter gatherers, Romans and a few others leaving remains around here. From the Middle Ages the excess sea produce of the place was exported south.

We have arrived in time for the football festival - of which I know nothing.

As said before. We are above the town is the museum of the Giant Squid.  https://www.turismoluarcavaldes.es/calamargigante/ It costs 3 euros and involves lights and sounds.  A visit lasts about 45 minutes and you can take your dog if it is on a leash.    Maria said ;We paid a visit to the museum and although it is a small one it was interesting! I have to add my kid is obsessed with Krakens so this was the perfect visit for us. Paula was the receptionist of the museum and was such so kind and sweet with us,

Tomorrow we descend into the town.
