When one sauna is not enough
It's another day for the purist. We have splendid views and improved roads. The Mirador Castro de Pendia and attached picnic area is our first stop. 44 people have reviewed it The key thing is you can see a fortified enclosure - using the local stone - which was settled in Pre-Roman times and continued in use till the the early Medieval. It has not one, but two saunas. One is Pre-Roman and the other Roman. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castro_de_Pendia
Onwards we go and so to a small cafe - La Bodega. It has no reviews and so might as well not exist. Down hill from it is a two star hotel, La Casa Abuelo Justo. Grandpa Justo’s house gets 4.7 stars. The worst review - 3 stars - can only pick on the road. ‘The great house, suitable for all needs, the super quiet place, surrounded by mountains and peace. A very rural area. Just to put a but, the road is curvy. Thanks to Rocío.’ Maria was not put off by the road. ‘We booked this apartment to spend a few days with the family and we were delighted!!!! Cozy, with everything essential and the surroundings wonderful. 100% recommended to spend a few days in the middle of nature. Thanks to Rocío and Juanjo for the welcome!!!’ Booking reckons it costs £74 a night.
We are in Asturias and much is to made of this later. Over a million people live here and it is the 10th largest province in Spain. Most of the population is to be found along the coast - and particularly the northern low land triangle wherein is found the three biggest cities, Gijon, Oviedo and Aviles - wherein live about half the population. Currently Adrian Barbon of the PSOE is the President. He was born in 1979, no, really. He was mayor of Laviana from 2008 to 2017 and became President in 2019. He was hospitalised by Covid in 2021.
More stuff tomorrow.
