He is legend
It is a bit of a day where, apart from marvelling at the motorway and how it swoops round the landscape, we need to muse about another thing. We are going around the A Voltina restaurante which opens at 8am. Christian is surely in love. ‘Everything from the empanadas de carne to the slow pour draft beer came with attention and love. We have been walking across the breadth of northern Spain and have honestly not had anything like the empanadas that grandma was making here. They are absolutely fantastic. Then we started noticing the lunch choices and realized this spot is a culinary miracle. Literally 10 meters away from the Camino del Norte, this is a little gem you should definitely make time for.’ Lucas also added ‘Old school free pinchos, good beer and a great place to recuperate before pressing on with the Camino. Highly recommended!
We have time, we need to talk about Lucas Perez. Football is an easy target. The amounts of money don’t help the fact many people connected to it are absolutely ghastly however, to see the community rally round struggling Scunthorpe shows it has worth. Among the most worthy is Lucas Perez.
Lucas was born in A Coruna in 1988. Lucas left for the bright lights of Madrid and played in the B and C teams of Athletico and Rayo before heading off to Kyiv, PAOK and then, in 2015, he signed for Deportivo La Coruna. Following a very successful season he moved to Arsenal, then West Ha, before returning to Spain. Playing for La Liga team Cadiz.
While Lucas toured the top leagues Depor had crashed from being European contenders down into the third - and generally semi-professional tier of Spanish football. On New Year’s Eve 2022 paid Cadiz [top league team] half a million euros as a relief fee to be allowed to go back to Depor. This wasn’t the aging star returning home., Cadiz really didn’t want him to go. On 12th May Lucas Perez scored from a direct free kick to see La Coruna beat Barcelona Athletic 1-0 to secure promotion to the 2nd tier and fully professional football.
Such is how legends should be made.
