 We will have a near Lourenza experience today.   The N634 has been improved and given a fly-over so we do not have to wet our feet as we cross the Rego do Batan.



Lourenza is yet another tale of a populace in decline.  In 1910 5500 people lived here, today 2125. There was no mid century rise, this is a story of a steady down.  We can wave at the Casa Carballal as we pass by.  It is a 4.5 holiday house. It has two reviews with words and not just stars.  Carmen said three months ago ‘Quiet place to spend a few days in summer. Charming hosts and place with all services.  Oscar Eduardo Nieto Arcos was far less happy two years ago.   He said ‘Totally negative experience because we didn't even get to enter the house. We made a reservation for three nights 2 weeks ago and today we coincidentally opened our Booking reservation and saw that it was cancelled. We called to find out what happened and they didn't give us any explanation, only that they were already booked up for those nights and that when they died it was Booking's fault... and Booking says that it was the property's fault. The fact is that we do not have our reservation 4 days before going and with train tickets and car rental already paid.’  Let us pass on.


We need to do a visit to a farm equipment supplier.  Moure Maquinaria https://www.mouremaquinaria.es/  Hyde Lotter was impressed.  ‘Ever seen a movie where a lady in a car parts place can just quote you the part number of any vehicle since 1960..... well this lady probably grew up helping her Dad , then took over the business. Anything to do with tractors, chainsaws, brush cutters can be acquired  or repaired here. They are a Stihl dealership but will repair anything.  Made me a new chain for my chainsaw too.’    Miquel was also a happy soul ‘To María, I appreciate her work of caring beyond schedules and procedures, with professionalism, smile and friendship.’




We will end in Paradise.  The Meson Paraiso appears to be a divine comedy. It reviews as 3.3 stars but then this is on an average of three reviews.  The one star says nothing.  The five stars says ‘Unbeatable service, delicious food, generous portions, impeccable place, super clean bathroom, super friendly owner, I will definitely return🙌🏼’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
