A confusion of Bermundos
We have arrived at a place. Not just a building but a building with wine and cider, The Bar y tienda Ultramarinos Lidiia has five reviews. They are mostly good. DAP felt ‘And kind. When you go up by bicycle, this place is appreciated, especially to replenish water, etc.’ Jorge added ‘Very good. Very cozy. With the charm of the bars-shops of yesteryear’
We will have a a moment in today's photos. I remember a terrible road. The photos suggest otherwise. Occassionally Streetview give you an Easter Egg. Here it is today. A 2012 shot snuck in amid the 2023 ones.
That’s it for today. We will wander on and up, ending the day cutting across the roadway.
Let’s do another king. After Alfonso came Fruela the Cruel. Apparently the kingdom of Asturias was spreading and the Basques were unhappy with this. They revolted. He stopped them being revolting and apparently married one of their noble women, Munia. During his reign Oviedo was founded and a church to Saint Vincent was built - where Fruela and Munia would be buried.
Fruela assassinated his brother Vimerano (this is the basis for his nickname), and with the nobles a bit mioffed, he named as his successor Bermudo (not to be confused with Fruela's cousin Bermudo I - I know, it is a classic noob error to confuse the two), son of Vimerano. Fruela was assassinated in Cangas de Onís,, and his cousin Aurelius was raised to the throne instead.
So much for Asturias and so we end.
