Yes, another day in the country. We will pass a monument but I can not find anything about it. Towards the end of the day we will end up going off street view.
What can go on and why not, there will be less rain than at other times. While January sees 118mm and December 135mm, May has only 54 and July half that. I realise this is not exciting enough. Lets talk about wolves. Galicia has the most wolves of any province except the much larger Castile y Leon.
Galicia has 100 pacts and about 500-700 creatures. Wolves are present at a low density throughout the region except for the coast where they only found in Costa da Morte. Galician wolves have long used rubbish heaps and remains from pig and poultry farms as a important food source. This is coming to end as EU regulations means they are increasingly fenced. On the upside the abandonment of rural life has led to a marked increase in roe and red deer since 1988. A major cause of death among wolves in Galicia is road kills (58 in the last three years). Over 2200 livestock deaths were reported between sept 2003-Aug 2004.
That’s it for today.
