Sande - not that one
We will pass some bins today. One of those things that marks Spain out as different is that you take your rubbish to the communal bins. During the Covid lockdown families fought for the right to be the one who could leave the home for a few minutes to take the rubbish out. Let us move on. We are in December 2009 for some of the trip. I wonder if the wreck of a farm building was ever sold.
Another day in the gently rolling countryside. Sande is several things. You will have all of thought of the Sunderland born, Aberdeenshire raised singer, the child of an English mother and a Zambian father who has an MBE. I am, of course, the hamlet which fails to arouse much internet interest.
We will be passing La Casa Castoar - which seems which seems like a jolly place to say. A year ago Ana said ‘Thank you for the treatment and good taste at the celebration of my parents' 50th anniversary. We loved the house and the whole family. We were delighted.A little-known place, very quiet and beautiful. We got there by chance, but we will return.’ Luis added We have spent some wonderful days in Castoar. The house and the surroundings are very well cared for. Many trees and many flowers. I was especially struck by the fact that there are always fresh flowers in the house. Also surprising are the embroidered sheets and tablecloths, like the ones before. Exquisite service and very good homemade breakfast. Without a doubt we will repeat!!’ Alas two years ago Monica reported ‘Absolute lack of formality. Gloria confirmed the stay and room by phone and in writing and everything went very well, but a few days before the trip she wrote to me to tell me that "she made a mistake" and that she had promised our room before. The solution to your mistake? Move to a better room and have to pay the difference, €40 more per night. Outrageous.’ I advise you visit and judge for yourself. https://www.castoar.com/
En route we will pass the Campio Capela tanker collecting milk to drive into yesterday and dairy. One of the consequences of the shift to milk tankers in the more mountainous parts of Spain is the ending of milk collections to those places the tankers can’t get to.
That’s it for today. We will complete the day by heading out on the AC-564 and pass the AG641005 bus stop. You can either go to As Pontes or Plaza de Galclia around 6.45am, 3.20pm or 6.10pm. We won;t. We have roads to walk.
