About a 1500th of an Islignton
I like to think that we are striving for authenticity here, so, having to retrace about 200m back on the proper path isn’t a mistake, just the search for something pure.
There is something about wandering in Spain that makes you wonder about how many people live here and what it used to be like in Blighty before the Industrial Revolution. Certainly we are among the sparsely populated hamlet and empty fields, although maybe not as sparse as some of the big agrarian industrial areas of the UK.
Let us consider England - and why not. Shropshire comes in as the most empty of counties with only 102 people per square kilometre. North Norfolk only has 107. Mid ranking Surrey Heath has 953 while Islington has 14,589 and Tower Hamlets 15,794. West Devon only manages 50 people per square kilometre.
Spain averages 95 people per kilometre. Madrid has 5,337 souls for every squared 1000m length and width, Extremadura a mere 25. Galicia has 91 people per km2, mostly by the coast.
All this is by of the fact we really don’t have much else in the way of things to look at. The Dolmen Mámoa da Calzada doesn’t even get a review - although somehow they know it is good for kids.
Let us pass on.
