Gentle slopes and watery vastnesses

Today is the day to enjoy an almost stereotypical wander amid the gentle slopes, little lanes and wooded fringes of the fields. We have nothing of exceptional note until with come to the reservoir.

The Xunta de Galicia reports on its website that this place is a magnet for gulls and crested grebes. That did make me wonder if they used it as a magnet, helping them find lost pins and nails or it attracted them like one, plucking them out of the sky.

The reservoirs were built in the 1980s. Apart from the aforementioned feathered friends ducks and cormorants hang around here in the winter months, competing with the locals for the abundant fish.

Gabriel Tojo Suare was not impressed. His three stars was because ‘It is a small reservoir with easy access without much to highlight. I didn't find any beach or place to rent boats. Its main interest is that some interesting hiking route starts from there.’ Others say little just leave stars and depart, and so will we.
