Spain: Land of Roads

Spain, land of the new road. One of the notable things about Spain over the last 30 years is the way that roads have linked up the villages, revitalising some and making the possibility the rise of the commuter hamlet. We are going to the end of the A-54 today. The photos were taken in August 2023. The road starts in Santiago and is meant to link to Lugo. The two ends are slowly working their way together but haven’t made it yet. It was begun in February 2009. To quote wiki ‘When complete, this infrastructure will allow traffic from outside Galicia to have an easy and safe access to the capital of Galicia (Santiago) and the central area of the Galician Rias.’

That is going to be it for the day. We will have to mooch up to Pazo Marinao to find a place to stay. Pazo The reviews are 3 or more years old but are generally favourable.

That’s it for today.
