Resisting the obvious follow up headline

It feels odd to have come so far and now to be so close. We are pushing 4km today to be able to do the final walk tomorrow as standard.

The first place of interest we pass is a rather austere brick looking building with the word ‘Club’ written on it twice and a heart. Alas it has no website so we can only divine what it is all about by its Google Footprint. It is open 24 hours a day on Sunday, Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday. It closes Monday and is only open 8am to 5pm Friday. According to Google is is mostly busy either side of 11.30am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays it peaks at 2am, 7am and 11pm. Thursdays is much the same. Less people avail themselves on Saturday, usually at 1am, 5am and 7pm. Sunday is mostly 10am to 3pm. Given that Gernando Castro Cano, one of three reviewers, said ‘one of the best fxxxs of my life I think we may hazard a guess at its business. Fernando has reviewed four other places, in a similar area of commerce. The rest are in Asturias although Club El Silencio doesn;t have much variety he feels.

We are entering the village of San Marcos. It lacks much in the way of wikiness about it. Over 800 people live here, essentially betwixt airport and city. The Restaurante O Labrador https://www.facebook.com/restaurante.olabrador/?show_switched_toast=0&show_invite_to_follow=0&show_switched_tooltip=0&show_podcast_settings=0&show_community_review_changes=0&show_community_rollback=0&show_follower_visibility_disclosure=0 hasn’t posted on Facebook since 2012. Reviews in the last month promote the place as cheap and cheerful. The Pilgrims Menu is 10 euros

Our last night on the road is at the Hotel Santiago Apostol. https://www.santiagoapostolhotel.com/

The restaurant offers raciones at 10-18 euros. Galacian style pan fried pork with a broken egg is 12.50/ Tostada with tomato is 3 euros. Tonight a room will cost 50 euros and have all the televisions you could need. The place is pet friendly the most recent review, written about a week ago gives 4 stars A comfortable hotel if you go by car, it is not far from Monte do Gozo and not far from a carrefour, the rooms are large, free parking, prices quite in line with the location.

Tomorrow, we arrive.
