Post Christmas at the Suiza hotel


It is a bit of a rolling day with ups and downs across the green, green countryside. The N-547 is doing the service of many National Roads. We have a scattering of industries and enterprises with the occasional elderly house which had settled there when the road was not as busy as had once been and are now a little out of place. The Hotel Suiza feels a bit like that.

Hotel Suiza is a 2-star gaff. Maria Jose Perona did not rate it. 3 days before writing this she posted ‘A very nice man opened the hotel for us alone, we were alone in the hotel, the man gave us the keys to the room, he showed it to us and left, there is no TV, there is no heating, (I imagine it is because he has it closed) I do not recommend it because of what may happen, one is left helpless, they charge us 65 for 3 people, I would call it a sinister hotel’ A month a go Ely E said ‘I would never choose this hotel, it looks like the one in The Shining... there was no one in the hotel, the cafeteria closed, no heating in winter. We had to ask them to come and bring us a plug for the bathtub, they remove it so you don't …’
Clearly something has happened after Christmas. The 5 stars come rolling in before hand. Three months ago MG said ‘Thanks Alberto for everything!  Mostly people leave 5 stars and depart. The most fulsome one is six years ago. Javier wrote ‘Serious serious company. An unusual work capacity in these times, they mix the historical style of the Galician worker with the new 21st century techniques of taking care of procedures and human resources. The property is in front and also in the works They never cease to amaze me. That's why they have created a brand. Congratulations!!’



We are almost at the A-54 and, as the pics are from October, can see the extension work on the motorway as can be expected. Before we end however there is a cheese shop so let us visit. QUEIXOS VERBAS (LACTEAR SAT) has 7, 5 star ratings. Francisco was thrilled. ‘It is a "LUJAZO" to be able to have people like her who live and love-value their work, and make it a reality with cheeses that will NEVER let you down.   Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
