Into the grey-blue.
The default setting for a walk is 5am. This would only Puritan virtue if I struggled to get up at this time. All of this is by saying this is the first time that I have gone out at this time in months where the sky has been a pale blue-grey and not inky black. We are eight days off the equinox and arrival.
We are going to ignore the motorway - whatever google-maps says about it as a route - and are heading off down the old National Road, the N-547. We will pass the Alberque Pension Camino das Ocas. https://www.caminodasocas.com/
They have all manner of joy including a cafe and a laundry. Three months ago Allegra said ‘Manuel and his family run a beautiful and comfortable home surrounded by a garden and forest grove. I enjoyed a quiet night in the dorm/hostel & they also have rooms, balcony, seating areas & a kitchen. Small menu on offer & there’s also a bar/tavern nearby (Heidi’s). Manuel is a wonderful host - I enjoyed our conversations.’
The road carries on and we will slip past Burres [403 inhabitants] To be honest there is not a lot more to be said till we get to the end and arrive at the Pension Mirador de Rouris. It is a solid red coloured building, charging £43 a night for two people. Booking gives a few photos. https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/mirador-de-rouris-a-coruna.en-gb.html?aid=2326660&sid=671e0036d63329bb57e46225b702012f&dist=0&keep_landing=1&sb_price_type=total&type=total& It only averages 3.9 stars. Most of the ones before Christmas seems ok. Andrea Leon said ‘Everything is very good, the only thing is that there is no place to dine there or eat, but they offer you several contacts from bars in the area that can bring you food. The rooms are good and the pension is located 200 meters from the road, so you don't have to go out of your way any further’ Two years ago rpcr 213 was less impressed. ‘Crappy room, poor quality television, a lot of noise, a lot of mosquitoes (we had to kill about 10). Not recommendable’
