Welcome to Mellide. It is one of those towns which suddenly arise. A scattering of out of town villas and then a tunnel of four floor apartments. We are nipping round the southern edge to see Spanish rural towns in all their glory. Here we see a tiny cot, there a farm. Stepping past the light industry we barely notice the field about three minutes from the town centre.
About 7500 people live here. It is a livestock centre and a market is held on the last Sunday on the month. In 1320 the town got the right to build a wall and two hundred years later they were pulled down when they joined the fight against Carlos I. The place is stuffed full of churches and Baroque palaces. https://www.concellodemelide.org/
