A cruel wind and a closed road.

I was going to complain that the weather here was awful, but it apears it is only a couple of degrees warmer in Galacia. Mind you, they might not have the rather cruel windchill and they have more cafes doing Menu del dia.

We are going up 128m and down 97m You may not regard this as exciting however we have gone above the highest points in Huntingdonshire [80] and Norfolk [105],, equaled Suffolk [128] and almost reached Essex’s mighty 147m. It is amazing what people will put on a website https://www.walkingenglishman.com/lists/countytopsengland/master.html. Beyond that, there is Boente.

To get through to Boente we are going passed more houses, many modern, with still that glass windowed frontage to look at the rain in the comfort of your own home. Historically, Boente has been a resting point for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago due to its strategic location between the towns of Arzúa and Melide. The Church of Santiago, dates back to the 12th century. The church features a unique wooden sculpture of Saint James dressed as a pilgrim, which is apparently a popular attraction for those walking the Camino de Frances.

The Albergue Boente is generally well thought of. Amandine gave 5 stars without any comment. The management responded with ‘Thank you very much Amandine, despite having come in rainy weather, we are glad that your review was positive. We wait for you when you want another time another year. A hug, Amandine.’ Daniel said ‘The best place on the way, they treated us great and we felt like at home. We had to telework after a stage of the journey and we took the opportunity to spend the day in the dining room and we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there because we were so comfortable. They put paper in our boots to dry them, they stored our raincoats and walking sticks well... Little details that made us feel at home. The person who answered us on the phone gave us very good advice and then when we met a charming woman, she put the fireplace in the dining room for us so that we would stay warm while we teleworked. The food was very delicious, the lentils and the cream were very delicious, the burger was good too and everything we ate was super good. Breakfast very good too. The room was incredible, we didn't expect it in a hostel, super modern, warm, the bathroom was great (one of the best on our trip), the bed was very comfortable and really great

With that, it is time to depart.
