When Pilgrims

It’s a bit of an odd one today - as longer walks tend to be. We are following the route and the sensible chaps in Galicia have opted to reduce the number of pilgrims mowed down by speeding tractors on narrow lanes by providing a lot of paths away from roads traversed by streetview. We will start by a quick diversion just to see how they arrange their beans. Recent storms have played havoc with my faba beans and this may be a way of dealing with that and getting more beans. Some thought on this is needed.

Back to the road. We are descending about 300m today and dip below 500. Towards the end the number of farms will increase. Firstly though we will pass Terra de Luz, which Google tells me is open 24 hours a day and temporarily closed. The twenty-nine reviews are all five stars. Cae says
‘Amazing oasis of good vibes in Camino. One of those places that makes it, actually, the Camino. Take time to meditate, mindfully walk the meditation Labyrinth, practice yoga, have heart-felt conversations, or have breakfast/best coffee (made with Love, like everything else). Thank you Simon, for being the Camino. See you soon, hopefully in 💚Casa SanAndo💚
If it helps confirm your thoughts they have a sign which bans wifi and says ‘Hugging Zone’.

Nearby is. a restaurant, Casa do Campo, Gosende, which gets 4.6 stars and has a plate of cooked flesh as its cover pic. Ana said ‘Spectacular, traditional place where you eat what they raise and have and that shows in the exquisite flavor of everything! We ate some trout first that were delicious, but the beef steak was spectacular! I have never eaten such tasty and tender meat. And then the dessert surprised me, the ice cream to hell, how delicious it was! To repeat without a doubt!

Most if the villages are a bit small to make much of a splash viz wiki pages. Aguiada has a website including weather details. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/spain/lugo/camino-frances-fonfria-a-aguiada
The Taberna del Camino is marked as temporarily closed, as are so many places in the winter. The 2019 figures reckon 2119 people travelled the Camino in February. The peak month, mad fools, is August - 53319. The season appears to be from April to October. January has only 1650. Interestingly the months where more men were doing the Camin were January, February, March, May [just], November and December.
