The rain it raineth almost every other day
I find it somewhat worrying that, having entered Galaica, my daily walk has gone with the vibe and embraced heavy rain. Compostella has about 2000ml of the sutff a year. This compares to Madrid, 436mm; Granada 335mm and London 615mm.
We start in Hospital. The village is dated to the 13th century when the Hospitallers built a base. It has a Alberque which averages 3.8 stars. Three months ago it got two one stars. Gabriele said ‘The worst hostel encountered on the way, terrible energy, literally the devil's house, god bless them.
I advise you to continue 2 km!!; Marco said ‘The worst hostel found along the way, literally one of the devil's houses, be very careful pilgrims, God bless you ‘
However two months ago a reviewer said ‘Friendly service staff Accommodation facilities are complete and comfortable Provides warmth during strong winds, showers and low temperatures’
As always, go there and check it out for yourself.
We haven’t done heights for a while but we are at another peak, with a Hostal to stop at. Hostal Santa Maria do Poio. It only gets 3.6 stars. Isaac reckoned 5 months ago ‘Views of a meadow. Old and small bed, the room smells indescribably bad. Homemade food, little variety. Friendly but apathetic service.
I do not recommend.’ Whereas Pablo opined ‘Good deal. Good atmosphere and cleanliness was good.
A hostel to recommend to anyone who needs to spend a night in Pedrafita do Cebreiro and is looking for something affordable.’
Maybe we push on. We are only a month away from Compostella.
