Deeper than Lincolnshire

For fans of geography let it be known we are dropping about half a kilometre today. If you prefer it. We will be going down two and half times the highest spot in Lincolnshire.

I have a fondness for roads like this. You start up high and slowly descend, meeting a house here and then a small hamlet as you get towards the more useful lands. Every so often you come across a small town / small village that serves the lofty heights. Fillobal is a hamlet which contains the Church of San Xoán, which dates back to the 12th century. This Romanesque church has undergone several restorations over the years but still looks a bit old.

Pasantes is a bit sparse in detail but it does have shops. Metal Power SL has a facebook page with 9 followers. The website gives an e-mail and the five reviews are tumbleweed empty of facts. The Capela de as Pasantes has one, two star review, with even less supporting details. The other shops have not details. We are saved by Casa Perez. It has a website https://casa-paez.negocio.site/

It has reviews,. 9 months ago Bart wrote ‘Super friendly and helpful lady. Clean and convenient. Cheap. Beautiful location.’ Damian said ‘Located about 20 minutes drive from Pedrafita. A very complete house, with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, living room with sofas and television. Recommended, a 10!’

Triacastela is better served, It does have over 500 inhabitants and places to eat. Parrillada Xacobeo Restaurante The Menu is 14 euros and the day of writing contained https://complexoxacobeo.com/restaurante/

I fancy the Paella Galician broth and Beef steak with Creole Chorizo. The Council has a website https://concellotriacastela.com/

Lets have a rest. The Casa David is a one star hotel - or two, if you look on the website. http://casadavidtriacastela.com/

It does have a blog. The last entry was 8th December. It said ‘There is less than a month left until the end of the year, hundreds of pilgrims remain to receive the compostela and the record of the Xacobeo 2010 has already been surpassed; which means that 2016 is established as the year that the most pilgrims have come to…’ Carmen recently visited and said ‘I haven't slept there, but they made us some luxury sandwiches that saved us on Christmas Day. Very friendly and good attention. Thank you.’

We will end the day contemplating the bus stop. Not many buses come by but you can get one to Santiago.
