On the road again- without Coyotuco but with the possabilities of turkey

It is a day of fields, village fields again. Today we are entering [and leaving] and will be descending 24 more metres.

San Martin del Camino was a thing in the 7th or 8th century BC. That and everything else is a bit speculative. The first surviving document to mention the place is from 1157. The commercial spirit of the people can be testified to by the fact the turkeys of the pueblo were taken to Barcelona for the Christmas market.

Currently 350 souls dwell in the place. It chiefly seems to offer B&B to the pilgrim trade - there are 6 places to sleep.

The first is Albergue Vieira. It has 4.4 stars and three months ago Yuting Fu wrote ‘It’s a very lovely family run albergue, clean and welcoming. We had the best homemade food there! Highly recommend!’ Mayra Bocanegra was less than chuffed. They fell off the top bunk. Much else was not to their liking but as the ownership has apparently changed you may wish to risk it. The last is the Alberque Peregrinos La Casa Verde. It gets 4.6 stars.

We may need to stock up so La Tienda de Laura offers a 4.9 star sort of a service. Miguel Alvarez said of it ‘The best on the road without a doubt!!!! Very clean, great prices and Laura and her husband a 10!!!! Thank you Laura for that little moment of reminding me of your brother!!!! Thank you so much !!!!’

My one regret is we seem to have lost trace of Coyotuco. Never mind, on towards Astorga.
