Combining technical competence, enthusiasm and attention to detail
Serious minded history today. Not a disappointed plastic contrivance in view. With half a million people ahead of us and our hopes and our dreams, let us begin the day with some October weather.
The average temperature is about 20oC, with average highs of 25oC and lows around 15. It doesn’t freeze - you need December to March for that. We are in the wettest month. On average, 4.2 days have at least 1mm of rain.
Flooding can be a bit of a problem. Lack of urban planning and regulation meant Alicante was not well prepared for the autumnal and spring rains. On 19th October 1982, 220 mm fell in the city, a new record for rainfall in less than 24 hours. The Rambla de las Ovejas reached a watershed of 400 m³/s, its highest level ever, and wreaked havoc in the San Gabriel neighbourhood, resulting in two deaths.
On 30th September, 1997, a record rainfall of 270 mm was broken again, and the city suffered the worst flooding in its history , resulting in four deaths and water levels exceeding one meter in some neighbourhoods, such as Playa de San Juan and San Agustín . Authorities declared a day of official mourning, and emergency services had to drain the waters that had inundated entire neighbourhoods.
Fancy a garden centre. The Dadaim opens from 0m to 2pm and 5 till 9 today. https://www.dadaima.es/ WAVE liked it ‘An excellent place for plant lovers! Very spacious, with a wide variety of trees, flowers, shrubs, and more. Everything is well-maintained and looks healthy and presentable. What I liked most is that the plants you buy here continue to grow well at home; they don't wilt after a few days, as often happens in other nurseries. This demonstrates the good care they receive from the start. The staff is very friendly and really makes an effort to understand what you're looking for. The store is large, clean, and has a very pleasant atmosphere. I definitely recommend it!
We are near a bust to homage Luis Braille, but we haven’t time to leave our beaten track.
Just before we leave the road and go up a track we will pass Maria Molina. She is 59 5 star reviewed personal trainer. https://www.mariamolinaaracil.es/ Joaquina reckoned ‘Exercise always has a positive impact on our body. Training outdoors adds a very positive impact on mental well-being. And doing it with the help of María or Angy, who combine technical competence, enthusiasm, attention to detail..., turns the experience into something unique that everyone should enjoy at some point.
We have no time for such attention. Let us away.
