SOS! Rice!
We are near a bit of archaeology. Gauden says ‘The area of Algemesí contains archaeological remains that demonstrate Roman occupation and agricultural exploitation during the Hispano-Muslim period, giving rise to settlements that initially existed around the site of Algemesí, such as Cotes. Popular tradition has referred to these remains as a "wall," as they are the ruins of an ancient building. The Cotes wall corresponds to the Muslim farmstead of the same name, which is cited in the Llibre del Repartiment (Book of the Repartiment), and which was inhabited, primarily by Moriscos, until the beginning of the 17th century.’
We are also near a Arroz SOS mill. Go to a supermarket and you will find it. I was recommended it. The company was founded it here in 1903. It generally expanded and by 1936 had produced a cookbook and a song about rice. They have a motto. ‘If it’s SOS, it’s good.’ https://www.arrozsos.es/ The website has recipes. Many are novel. Enjoy.
We are passing the edge of Algemesi. The place was about 7000 in strength until the 1890s. It then grew steadily to 25,000 until 1981, had a slight decline till picking up after 2000 and now numbers 27,000. We are in the hot season. The average daily temp is 25oC.
Let us depart.
