The wide open spaces on the web

Esperanto is very fulsome as is Spanish.

The place has been a village on the way somewhere for many centuries. The GSHD said in the mid nineteenth century

‘PERALEJOS: 1st with town hall in the province, diocese and Jewish part of Teruel (2 1/2 leg.), aud. territory of Zaragoza, and cg of Aragon. Situated on a plain to the right of the Alfambra River , it enjoys a healthy and temperate climate , and no special diseases are known. It is made up of 99 houses of regular construction; a primary school attended by a small number of students; a parish church (San Bartolomé), served by a priest of 2nd promotion, and with ordinary provisions, and a cemetery that in no way harms public health. The term borders on the N. with Alfambra; E. el Pobo and Monteagudo; S. Villalba Baja, and W. Cedrillas; the aforementioned Alfambra River flows through it , with whose waters a flour mill and a fulling mill are powered. The terrain is very rugged, except for a small valley that has The high mountain range known as Castell-frio lies between this town and that of Cedrillas, and many ancient curiosities can be seen there. Roads lead to the neighboring towns, but are in poor condition. Mail is received from the province's capital. Production : whole wheat, common wheat, rye, barley, oats, hemp, potatoes, legumes, and some fruits and vegetables; there is some sheep and goat livestock, and rabbit and partridge hunting. Industry : some linen looms, a fulling mill, and a flour mill. Population : 84 inhabitants, 338 hectares. Taxed value : 64,723 reales.

Since then the 300s sort of rumbled along till the 1960s. 100 moved out between 1960 and 1970 and only 80 people lived here in 2001. In 2003 the place only managed to have one councillor, of the PAIR. This increased to three in 2011. The bitter power struggle has see the PP rule with a rod of iron from 2011 to 2023 when PAIR took control and have two councillors to the PP’s 1. A single PSOE rep was elected from 2019 to 2023.

The town website has a nice view of the place https://www.peralejos.es/
. The Church of St Bartholomew is 16th or 17th century with some Mudejar gazed ceramics. There is a monolith dedicated to the Air Force captains José Manuel Hernández Ferri and Gonzalo Gracia Ramos, who died on 4th May 1984 when their F-4 Phantom II plane crashed near the pueblo.

We will end today by passing the town hall. It has three reviews. All five stars. Five years ago Andres wrote ‘A charming place with many possibilities for tours through nature, a history of the efforts made by its inhabitants to learn about its natural landscapes.’

And so we go. Happy Dia de Canarias.
