Unforgettable lands where I have left pure sweat,

Another day of vast vistas.  We are on the road south and by passing Ausejo.  Nearby is what Google refers to as Amor y Pasion.  We won’t be visiting. Is it because we have enough love and passion in our life.  Well of course.  It will also be because the photo google provide suggests it is no longer in operation. And is not reviewed by even Raul, seven years ago, four stars, no comment.  Mind you, in April 2022, went streetview went by someone had hung washing up in the car par and a car looked like it was being repaired.

We won;t be going to Ausejo either since the road does no longer graces it with its presence.  Today about 770 people live there and it has been about that since 1970. About a third of the populace are foreign born, mainly North Africans and Romanians.  We will miss seeing the castle, much reduced by an earthquake in 1819 and we are a day early for the day the Quintos go singing round the town, collecting money and singing in aid of a street party with lunch.  Finally, we will never hear the town song…

Oh, oh, oh! My Ausejo, even though I'm leaving, I won't forget you. I remember Las Caveras and the vineyards of Hornillo.

Also from Valdarrete, Piezas del Monte and Viayón, unforgettable lands where I have left pure sweat, and we have gone down the path and gone up to Piezas del Monte, the fountain of the Mother that does not dry up and flows abundantly.

Onda Villa, Onda Villa and the well that does not dry up, if water does not come out of the well, my vegetables will die.

I am in Ausejo to enjoy myself, I will never forget you.

Shame really but we must plough on.

It is New Year’s Eve.Spain, well, bits of it, have a custom.  The Twelve Grapes.  Apparently every man jack of them grapes a dozen grapes in their nerveless fingers and at the stroke of minute they begin to stuff them in their mouths.  They have till the clock strikes end to consume them.  Each grape eaten betokens a month of good luck.  The effect of the digital age has not been recorded.

The N-232 is replaced by the AP-68 and nearby is the so called carretera Logrono-Zaragoza.  We will end with the most common street names in Spain.  These are calle Mayor, calle Iglesia and calle Real. Use this knowledge wisely.
