The Age of Iron and Stone

We are starting the day near the Castro de Coana and so we should.  This is a spectacular Iron Age fort, dating back to about the 4th century BC and being occupied till into the 1st century, during Roman occupation.  The 80 houses were lived in by between 1500 and 2000 people. The stone walls mean the streets and lanes remain for the casual visitor who can marvel at the pavements and drainage

We stayed nearby during our first extended holiday in Spain. This was one of the first places we visited  - of course.  It was one of those warm after the rain mornings.  The visitor’s centre was small and not crammed with things.  I think we share the site with a couple of other people.  I will include photos.

As we are passing by Coana we might as well look at the ayuntamiento website.   https://ayuntamientodecoana.com/  The outstanding news for today [5th June] is

»  Coaña Open for Vacations: Summer children's programming

»  Final record of the selection process for a coordinator for the Music School

»  Final list of those admitted to the call for a Forestry Engineer

»  Mayor's resolution approving the provisional list of those admitted to the call of a forestry engineer

»  Day Internet

»  Environment Day 2024: Sunday, June 2

»  Adherence of the Council of Coaña to the Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy in the National Health System

On the edge of town is the Fabas Flor Galana. We have found a place of joy if Asturian products are what turn you on and if they don't - take a good look at your life priorities and change them at once. https://www.fabasflorgalana.com/  A fabada meat starter pack is 5.75 euros.  5kilos of beans cost 69.23 euros.   350g of honey will set you back 4.77 euros.

Back on the road we can look across the Navia river to the Enc3 Operations Centre in Navia - a paper mill - and wonder why it only gets 3.1 stars.  The lower reviews are people opposing pollution.  Cristhian gave 5 two months ago:

We went to unload on Friday, April 5 and we stopped for a moment at the roundabout at the entrance to verify an issue about our load and a Mercedes wooden trailer with license plate 3422 LCK almost killed us for not waiting two seconds, it passed us just a few CMS away. .since we were out of our truck, he narrowly missed us.

It is a shame that this character calls himself a professional with these attitudes typical of a psychopath and continues working for such a serious company! We left there with fear on the verge of a heart attack.

I give 5 stars for the excellent attention and kindness of the man at the access control, the best I have encountered.

Great person!!!

Also for the girl and the boy who helped me in the warehouse where I unloaded, wonderful!!

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience!

With that, we end the day.
