Back in the night

So, we are back in the night again until summer time catches up again on 25th April. Today really is a bit of a walk down back lanes, some of which are so obscure that Streetview doesn’t even reach them. We will be walking in the Tambre Valley so you might as well know it is 125km long and drains a basin of 1531km2. It is dammed at its lower course to create the Barrie de la Maza reservoir. The average flow is 54.1m3 a second. Use this knowledge wisely. We end up running along side the railway. A Coruna was linked to the capital in 1883 when, after 25 years, the line was opened and Alfonso XII, the Minster of Public Works and Minister for the Navy took a trip. Work on the Coruña-Madrid line began in 1858, with Queen Isabel II presiding over the event, The Betanzos-Ferrol line, projected in 1865, was not begun until 1883. In 1907 its 43km was completed. The Hunting of Pilgrims

So, we are nipping under the disused railway and rising up through the village of Quintans. The Bar Estanco Noya only has five reviews and all of them five stars. About two months ago Xeitoso X said ‘Traditional Village Tobacconist Bar. Good deal. Good tapas. Recommended’ Sonia was even more excited. 'Perfection in service in treatment of good people... in their calluses hahaha. 100 x 100 recommended.. they are the best!!!!!!!' The station on the disused line was once a neat little thing. It is abandoned and a bit vandalised these days.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv_WYd8aqGE https://galiciapuebloapueblo.blogspot.com/2019/10/antigua-estacion-de-berdia-santiago-de.html Out of town we will enjoy the following countryside and turn left at San Pedro de Busto parish church. We have passed a group of huntsmen. The hunting season begins in Mid October. Reports have it that bars open at 6.30-7.00 so huntsmen can breakfast. According to Tincatinker [and I report in full for you...

Mostly trees

Today is a day for wandering in rural parts. Galicia was famous for its inheritance customs. Farms were divided between the children producing smaller and smaller plots/ A traditional joke has it that if you look at the grim of a shirt collar you will find three Galacians farming there. Galicia still has it own inheritance taxes.   https://inheritancespain.com/galicia-3/ We are passing through the hamlet of Balsoma, which doesn't seem to trouble the internet much. To be honest I think my nails need doing and with luck Balsoma does have YS Nails Art Studio. They are identified as woman owned and LGBTQ+ friendly. They exist on instagram - yes, I have followed them.  https://www.instagram.com/yadhirasabelnailsartstudio The four reviews are all five star. Ary says ‘Excellent service and great professionalism, I will definitely repeat.’ That’s it for today. Enjoy the trees. Global Forest Watch report lost 522 kilo hectares between 2001 and 2020. What I don’t know is if this only in...
